About Margaret Kakas

Born on March 26, 1954 in the Bronx, Margaret Kakas was the daughter of Margaret H. (Koenig) Molnar and the late Stephen J. Molnar. She was the wife of the late John W. Kakas. Up until her passing on January 22, 2020, she was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Margaret received her Bachelors of Science from Alvernia University, where she was a member of their first graduating nursing program.  She was a career nurse and worked in all aspects of the profession, from staff nurse to supervision. She went on to teach nursing towards the end of her career.

Margaret was a strong and stoic woman with an irreverent sense of humor. In the face of trying circumstances, she was always a relentless optimist. Margaret valued her faith, her family and friends, music, and all furry creatures (especially her German Shepherd, Wolfgang, whom she was training to be a therapy dog). She loved to garden and to play the piano in her spare time.

A lifelong learner, Margaret was especially interested in researching her family tree. Some of that research is on this page today! Take a look around – she’d surely be pleased to know that her family and friends are reminiscing over these photographs and videos. And we’re proud to honor her with this digital album. Although she is no longer with us physically, her legacy lives on, and she remains a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
